Hi. I recently... reviewed your game, I guess you could say- I even referred a few people to play it. It should go without saying that they didn't bother trying to play past the 1st gym, and there are a lot of obvious reasons that I'll get into later on in this post. I, personally, have played the game for over 30 hours doing catching and raising, I've been reviewing this wiki page stats and EV referencing while I EV train my caught Fighters. There are a lot of annoyances I've experienced while journeying through the game, and I am about to share my experiences before I continue playing any further (maybe you will implement some of the ideas I input).
Firstly, I want to thank whoever created this game, it really is a sort of Dream Come True for me, irl I rock Pokemon like its nobody's business, I also somewhat worship the Original Dragon Ball when Goku was a child growing up. My ingame team usually consists of characters I LOVE, like Tienshenhan, Yamcha, Krillin, Androids-13/15/17/20, and such.
For now I've been 'move learn anticipating' each evolution (such as when C-13 evolves early he doesn't learn his signature Physical Attacks so Super-13 is left with whatever you can TM teach him). Characters like Teen Gohan really helped me out with his ability Huge Power, and it really matches his character, of course his other ability simply raises defense when in a pinch so you really gotta search for that SPECIAL specific fighter. When I catch a Fighter to train, I usually go through about 10 or so catches before I finally settle with the right Nature/Stats that I'm happy with. I'm not sure if you can "Breed" fighters or relearn a move when you forget it so I would assume I still have a bit to play before I get to that part.
I have to admire the amount of work that was put into this rom-hack, but it does have its flaws. For one, WAY TOO MANY Fighters are FIGHT type and/or have FIGHT type attack moves, and characters like Frieza (Ice/Dark) who are supposed to be really strong normally become a laughingstock in this game... and that makes me really sad. I want to play using Frieza 2nd Form in my party, but I cant because he always dies in 1-hit. Its nonsense, and it makes me not want to continue playing any further when you realize that characters like Frieza and Cooler are worthless even at Golden Forms.
Vegeta is another character who REALLY gets shafted in this game, he starts out GREAT, amazing stat growth with high speed and low defense; the PERFECT Hasty nature type... but then you train him and realize he doesn't really learn any good moves after Lv36 so you evolve him... and then he sucks. He becomes FIGHT/DARK type, and immediately every single fighter can KO him in 1 physical attack. What a cruel joke.
Another problem I noticed is that Beam attacks and Finishers like [Final Flash] and [Kamehameha] have TOO MUCH PP. Can you imagine Goku blasting Kamehameha's 20 times in 1 fight, because I cant. All Finisher moves and Ki blasts should have no more than 10PP, especially since DBZ always had an emphasis on [Martial Arts]. The amount of Physical Attacks in the game is laughable, to the point where Android-13 learns Dragon Rush(Lv40), a move that only Martial Artists should know, like Krillin, or Tienshenhan.
In fact, many of the inconsistencies give me a headache, like why is Krillin's Kienzan not a 1-hit KO move?!?! Just WHY?? Many things in the game make no sense and it gets me very annoyed while trying to continue the game.
I can only hope that the developer or editor of the rom-hack can reflect on my inputs and make the mechanics of the game a little better. NOTE I didn't even get into the inconsistencies on Type effectiveness, but I can only type so much before my hand starts hurting and I want to sleep.
Okay bye, thanks for reading.
